Seismik > Seoul

September 4th, 2014

It was so nice to meet Mimi and Elliot / from Kimchi and Chips. They are now creative directors of Da Vinci festival by Seoul Foundation of Art and Culture. They invite me to perform Seismik in the festival opening night. The venue is truly inspiring. Lot’s of creativy there.

SEISMIK > MONTREAL / MUTEK2014

June 7th, 2014

I presented 2 Seismik performances on the same nights. After the beta version presented in spain, I worked to update, with lucas, our OpenFrameWork Seismik Dataconnect . We add presets and target points to help me in live situations. During my EM15 performance, I had some trouble, with the OSC connections between the 2 laptops, minor problems … ! But, for me, the worst was the sound system, lot of crack noise because my low frequencies was too heavy for the sound system. I will nedd to add a frequency protection to my audio patch. Anyway, there is some pictures from caroline Hayeur, my official Mutek photograph, hi !!!

SEISMIK beta version

May 7th, 2014

After working intensively for 3 months on Seismik, I presented a premiere version [ SEISMIK_BETA ] at the L.E.V. festival / Laboral.

LABORATORIO DE ELECTRONICA VISUAL is the International Festival of Audiovisual Creation of Gijón. The festival celebrated the eight edition on May 2nd and 3rd with outstanding international artists You can wath an extract on vimeo _ vimeo.com/102158828 _

The audience was so excited and demonstrative. After this 3 months working 7 days a week, It was incredible for me and fill me lot of energy that I needed to continu to work on this piece.

SEISMIK ACTIVITY

February 10th, 2014

I have 2 months to work and be very focus on my new project SEISMIK. I have to present a beta version at the LEV festival / spain in next may. And a v.01 at Mutek/Elektra/EM15 in montreal in june. For this project I wanted to use, at different levels, the seismic data informations for creating audio and visuals. In my past researches I found lots of seismograph graphic representations, field drums, geodetic analysis, topology maps, etc … I worked with my friend Lucas to develop a vertical sediment scanner to analyse these graphs and convert it to audio and to visual datas. Beside this manner to interpret the stratigraphy information, we develop another OpenFrameWork application that are able to connect in real time to the seismic datas everywhere on the earth.

Seismik Activity

December 15th, 2013

Back to Montreal, I continu to develop Seismik.

SEISMIK ACTIVITY _ FRACTAL SEDIMENTATIONS

August 15th, 2013

Starting to create sedimentation and topology sliding with fractal calculations.

SEISMIK ACTIVITY _ AFTER SHOCKS

July 3rd, 2013

Some interesting Shock captations. ForeShocks / MainShocks / AfterShocks … like audio waves.

SEISMIK ACTIVITY _ FIELD DRUMS

June 22nd, 2013

Another analogy between earth frequencies and acoustic is the field drums activity. RSAM (Real-time Seismic-Amplitude Measurement) and SSAM (Seismic Spectral-Amplitude Measurement) are techniques that permit volcano seismologists to evaluate the nature of seismicity at a volcano. They are able to recognize subtle shifts in frequency related to changing dynamics of magma or gas movement.

Seismik research

June 13th, 2013

In the 2013 summer, I started making research on sedimentation phenomena. I found multiple relationships between frequencies and stratigraphic motifs. The stress magnitude, the failure envelope, the frictional slidings …

Geographic Words

Last Friday I made 2 performances at the Rennes Train Station. These performances was created from audio recordings I made during my Electroni[k] residency. It was little cold there, thank’s to all the people coming seeing me at 1am + 2am in the morning. Merci aussi à Dominique Vrignaud for taking this beautifull pictures and sharing with me photography and creation process passion.

I was so happy to see Dominique Godderis coming from Bruxelles. Dominique telling the intimate confidences into the speakers that the audience have in their hands.
