I am now in Taichung, I have 3 days free before my perfo. I went _ with my sister and 2 nice volunteers from the museum _ at a very beautifull tea house. We learn how to serve tea. Aussi nous avons été à Lukang, visiter la vieille ville et des temples boudhistes + taoïstes. Today, it was scooter day in the Taichung city _ we take a walk in the central parc and eating some famous dumplings _ cheaper cheaper.

Just before leaving for Taichung, I want to share some picts of some Taipei friends from the organisation at the university. Yesterday, it was sold out for Inject perfo, sorry for the 100 people that can’t enter in the room… maybe they can see it in Taichung.

Now in Taipei, I have 2 days before the Inject performance. I went today to Longshan Temple. C’est toujours des moments très touchants de voir tous ces gens de tous âge offrir des offrandes et se receuillir enveloppés d’une odeur intense d’encens.

I am in the technical preparation for my Asia Tour. I will leave thursday at 3am. ouf ! Â _ Â I am very excited about presenting INJECT in Asia _ After the warm reception I received in South America, I’m very curious about the Asian audience.
By the Way _ !  The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts ask to me to prepare une version censurée de INJECT _ because it will be presented outside of the museum. So I tried to replace some explicit scenes. _ I will try keeping the spirit of the performance.

One year ago, Magali and me had the idea to improvise on my drum. But not in a usual way. We decide BROKEN DOWN the drum TO ITS PHYSICAL ELEMENTS AND RAW MATERIALS. We decide to make 3 improvisations of 20 minutes for 3 days ::: Flesh, Wood and Metal was born. CONTACT MICROPHONES IN HAND – SET OUT TO EXPLORE EACH OF THE DRUM’S MATERIALS. ELEMENT BY ELEMENT, THEY EXPLORE THE SOUNDS A DRUM CAN MAKE WHEN IT’S CONVENTIONAL UTILITY IS SUBVERTED. IT IS NOT WHAT A DRUM CAN DO THAT THEY FOCUS ON, BUT WHAT A DRUM IS WHEN IT IS UNDONE. BROKEN DOWN, A DRUM IS THE COLD STEEL OF RIMS, BOLTS, CHAINS, PEDALS, BRUSHES, CYMBALS AND BELLS; IT’S THE WOOD OF SHELL AND STICK; IT’S THE SKIN OF THE DRUM AND THE BODY OF THE DRUMMER AS THE FLESH OF MUSICIAN AND INSTRUMENT ARE JOINED TOGETHER IN COMMON PURPOSE.
